How to Take Care of Your Slime (So It Lasts Longer)
Share
You just got your Cloud 9 Slime and it's perfect — soft, stretchy, and satisfying. Here's how to keep it that way for as long as possible.
Always store it in the container with the lid sealed tight
Air is slime's worst enemy. Every time you leave your slime out without a lid, it's losing moisture and slowly drying out. When you're done playing, seal it up completely. The jars we ship in are airtight — use them.
Keep it away from heat
Don't leave your slime in a hot car, near a window in direct sunlight, or anywhere warm. Heat breaks down the texture faster than anything else. A cool, dry spot like a drawer or shelf is ideal.
Wash your hands before you play
Oils, lotion, and dirt from your hands break down slime over time and can make it sticky or clumpy. A quick rinse before playing makes a big difference in how long your slime stays perfect.
How to revive slime that's dried out
If your slime is feeling stiff or less stretchy, don't throw it away — it can usually be saved. Add a tiny amount of activator (borax solution or contact lens solution) and knead it in slowly. A few drops of lotion can also help restore softness. Add small amounts at a time — a little goes a long way.
How to fix slime that's gone too sticky
Sticky slime means it needs more activator. Add a few drops of contact lens solution, knead thoroughly, and repeat until it stops sticking to your hands. Don't rush it — work it in slowly.
Different slime types need slightly different care
- Cloud slime — loses its snow texture faster than other types. Store sealed and avoid over-handling.
- Clear slime — can yellow slightly over time if left in sunlight. Keep it out of direct light.
- Butter slime — tends to stiffen up. A tiny drop of lotion kneaded in brings it right back.
- Glossy slime — most forgiving. Usually revives easily with a few drops of activator.
- ICEE slime — the beads or snow can compact over time. Just knead it to redistribute them.
How long does slime last?
With proper care, Cloud 9 Slime typically stays in great condition for 4–8 weeks. Some slimes last even longer. The biggest factor is how well you seal it after each use.
